Arlene Bryant, one of Maple
Lake's sweethearts, passed away on December 20, 2015, in Rancho Mirage. California.
Arlene was a Centurion Award winning real estate broker in Southern California.
She was born in Maple Lake and was the eldest of Harold and Luella Bryant’s three children. She was a great-granddaughter of Nicholas and Gertrude Vandergon and a granddaughter of David and Jennie Bryant, and William and Ada Thurk.
Arlene attended Maple Lake High School, where she played the lead in the musical play.
She continued her love of music by attending the University of Minnesota Macphail College of Music.
Her parents had a picturesque and thriving dairy farm in Maple Lake which was later owned and expertly run by her brother, Duane Bryant.
Arlene moved to Californiahin 1974 with her husband, and following her work in advertising and marketing, began her real estate career. She originated a motivational "Powerhouse Group" of business people in the Westlake Village/Thousand Oaks area that is still going strong. During her retirement she was involved in occasional real estate transactions.
She moved to Indio, California in 2006 to be near family members.
Arlene was involved in the local Indio Red Hats Group, and participated in events at the Indio Senior Center.
Until discovering she had cancer in October, she enjoyed great health. Arlene continued on with energy and enthusiasm for the last months of her life, having many friends visit and enjoy her gracious hospitality, which usually included a glass of wine and a toast to "Life"!
Arlene was a vibrant star and was loved and admired by family and friends. She will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Luella Bryant, and brother and sister-in-aw, Gilman and Ardis Bryant.
Arlene is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Duane and Annette Bryant; daughter and son-in-aw, Maureen and John Drewitz, daughter, Jeanne Kelly; beloved grandchildren, Anthony and Dormain Drewitz, Ryan and Lauren Drewitz, Jennifer and Augustino Suafoa, Robert Pyle III, and Elizabeth Pyle; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Kyle Skrainar, Leo, Harold, Lucas, and Jacob Drewitz, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
